New Book of Faith Sessions begin September 22
What does the Bible say? What does the Bible mean? How is the Bible the ‘word of God?’ Can I hear the Bible’s message today? How can the Bible help me grow toward maturity as a follower of Jesus?
Our congregation exists to nurture faith that works for real life. Faith like that is formed as Biblical fluency is increased among us and we grow toward maturity as Christians. Book of Faith is an emphasis that Bethel believes is well worth pursuing.
Enrich your faith journey in an eight session encounter with Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges and Ruth. Classes are led by Bethel’s pastoral team on Wednesday evenings, beginning September 22 , 7:00 p.m., Bethel Highlands. No prerequisites, no prior experience in Bible is required. Why not take this step toward personal Biblical fluency and maturing faith?

Let’s read a good book……and then talk about it!
Reading Fiction….What makes this a good story? What are the strengths and the vulnerabilities of the main character(s)? How does this story connect to you...in feelings, experiences, beliefs, challenges? What do you like/dislike about the author’s writing style? Is the ending satisfying for you? What would you say about this book to someone who hasn’t read it?
Reading Non-Fiction….Why is this an important topic? What new information did you learn? What ideas and beliefs does the information confirm or challenge? Has the author written with clarity and interest? Does this book compel you to take action? What will you do?
Everyone is Welcome!
THE BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP Invites active participation from all members of the Hudson community.
The group meet on the first Wednesday of each month, September through June in the Conference room at Bethel Downtown (920 Third Street, Hudson) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Refreshments are served! Parenting Tips
When children are unhappy they look for ways to draw their parents into a fight. Kids know just where your buttons are and how to push them to make you angry. The following is an excerpt from a recent Parenting Tip from a weekly emailed Parenting Tip from the National Center for Biblical Parenting:
Instead of getting into the ring with your children, imagine going around the ring to the child's corner and becoming a coach. You might say, "I'm not going to discuss this with you while you're upset. First, you need to settle down and then we'll talk about the problem." Or, "The way you're talking to me sounds like you're trying to provoke me into an argument. I'm not going to fight with you."
